Submitting an Idea

To submit an idea from the Submit Idea page:

Click the Submit Idea link on the menu bar.
When the Submit Idea page displays, type in a Title for your idea.
If desired, click the button to run spell check on the Title.
Choose an Expedition from the dropdown list.
ideaRiver displays the description of the Expedition.
Choose a Category from the dropdown list.
Choose a Target Department from the dropdown list.
If applicable, set the following flags on your idea submission:

If you wish to submit this idea without identifying yourself as the author, select the Submit Anonymously checkbox.
If you want to mark this idea as sensitive, select the checkbox.
If this idea could result in patent or trademark action, select the Intellectual Property checkbox.

To share credit with others for this idea, choose the name from the Coauthor dropdown list, and click the Add hyperlink.
Type a detailed Description of your idea, including as much information as you can to demonstrate its feasibility.
If desired, click the button to run spell check on the Description.

Note: If you want to attach additional information, such as charts, text files or graphics to more fully explain your idea, you must first save a draft or submit the idea.

To save the idea without submitting it, click the button.
To submit your idea to the ideaRiver for review and refinement, click the button.

To submit an Idea from an Expedition Detail page:

On the Welcome page, click the hyperlink for an Open Expedition.
When the Expedition Detail page displays, scroll to the bottom and click the Submit an Idea hyperlink.
When the Submit Idea page displays, type in a Title for your idea.
If desired, click the button to run spell check on the Title.
Choose an Expedition from the dropdown list.
ideaRiver displays the description of the Expedition.
Choose a Category from the dropdown list.
Choose a Target Department from the dropdown list.
If applicable, set the following flags on your idea submission:

If you wish to submit this idea without identifying yourself as the author, select the Submit Anonymously checkbox.

Submitting an Idea

With ideaRiver, your organization makes it possible for any designated staff member to contribute to its success. You can submit an idea to an expedition, providing detail and background information that allows others to add to the idea and refine it as it moves from an idea to reality.

If you want to do further research, or think about your idea more before submitting it, you can save it as a draft, and it will appear on your My Ideas page, where you can modify it before submission. Draft ideas are not submitted to the ideaRiver.
